UV radiation<\/h2>\n

\nDiasec offers the greatest possible protection against the harmful effect of UV radiation.<\/p>\n

Ultraviolet radiation comes not only from outside, but also from inside, from lamps. Even the luminous signs indicating the emergency exit emit ultraviolet radiation. The ultraviolet radiation emitted by light bulbs and LED lamps is of an acceptable level. However, light from low-energy bulbs, fluorescent lamps and halogen lamps has a fairly high content of ultraviolet radiation.<\/p>\n

The entire spectrum of visible and invisible light contains radiation that degrades pigment and dyes. The harmful radiation is highest in the invisible ultraviolet spectrum. It is therefore important to filter this part of the radiation.<\/p>\n

We therefore recommend using museum glass for framing. Apart from providing 60, 70 or 92% UV protection, this glass also has a beautiful coating that prevents annoying glare and reflection.<\/p>\n

Maximum protection<\/h3>\n

The general property of plexiglass is that it is more than 90% UV resistant. We always work with the best possible qualities of plexiglass available. Some manufacturers claim to offer almost 100% UV protection. According to scientific measurements this is not possible: the plexiglass would have to be light yellow in colour.<\/p>\n

ICN studies<\/h3>\n

The National Cultural Heritage Agency, as the former Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage, commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) to carry out interesting studies into, among other things, limiting light damage to museum objects. Museums and galleries work with the guidelines of this institute.
